Barn Swallows Nest

This recording was made in a small storage room at the Castell Mar camping site in Aiguamolls de l'Emporda, Catalunya, in July 2022.

We wanted a close-up recording of the nest activity, so we waited for the parents to leave (assisted by the local bird ringer) and placed some small clip-on microphones 10cm from the next.

Eurasian Reed Warbler

Recorded in the north of Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, it was moving quite quickly around the dense mangroves. Recorded with a handheld Wildtronics parabolic.

Common Nightingale

Recorded in the north of Sierra Leone, at Outamba Kilimi National Park, West Africa. It didn't stay there for long, I just managed to get a glimpse of its song with the iPhone. This encounter was incredible and personally emotional.

Flock Murmuration in Banc d'Arguin

Recorded in Iwik, Banc d'Arguin, Mauritania, in October 2023, where millions of birds gather every year from as far as Eastern Asia.

Willow Warbler in Sierra Leone

Recorded in Outamba Kilimi National Park in March 2023. I left the recorded overnight where Paul Robinson, ornithologist and bird guide, told me there was a chance to hear and see Willow Warblers. This population is the Scandinavian one, based on previous years records.

Barn Swallows Nest
